Officials with the city of McDonough and Henry County will open a 50-yer-old time capsule Saturday on the McDonough Square.

MCDONOUGH — Landscape developers can now bid to help construct the reimagined McDonough city square after the McDonough City Council approved the request in their meeting on Sept. 16. The City Council had previously approved the plan for landscape development that was presented by the McDonough Main Street Program.

The city of McDonough and Henry County worked with Carmen Johnston Gardens to develop the landscape plans. These plans include adding more plants and lighting to the surrounding area and suggest building a fountain in the middle of the square. The fountain and any additional hardscape installations will need approval from Henry County since it owns the city square.
