McDONOUGH — The newly constructed Alexander Park Trail was celebrated Wednesday morning with a ribbon cutting ceremony at its Jonesboro Road entrance.
The trail is part of over 148 acres of the Alexander Park expansion project. The trail now connects behind the park, which is located at 300 Atlanta St. in McDonough, with Jonesboro Road where there is a new parking lot and restrooms. It has been in the works since 2005, said Mayor Billy Copeland, who acknowledged former city staff and officials who assisted in acquiring the land for the expansion. He also acknowledged a 17-acre donation for the project from the Wall family.
