STOCKBRIDGE — The Stockbridge City Council voted to amend a section in the city’s Unified Development Code to decrease the distance required between gas stations with convenience stores throughout the city. The City Council approved the text amendment with a 3-2 vote.

The amendment decreases the required distance from 4,500 feet to 800 feet. It also introduces many requirements for developers. For example, they must provide an equal number of electric charging stations as gas pumps and provide covered canopies over both areas. The project must also have a minimum investment of $8 million and have suites available for at least two sub-tenants.
