In advance of the Sept. 7 and 8 NASCAR race weekend and as part of the Protect Your Melon: Buckle Up safety campaign, NASCAR Cup Series driver Ross Chastain visited Southern Crescent Technical College in Griffin Friday. The free event also featured various demonstrations about highway safety and activities by public safety agencies. “It was an incredible day of learning about highway safety and we appreciate Ross for sharing his passion for safe driving with our students and community,” an SCTC statement read. The annual Kiwanis Henry County Fair began Wednesday and continues through Sunday at Heritage Park in McDonough. The Kiwanis Club uses money raised from the fair to help more than 20 non-profits in Henry County that support children.
