MCDONOUGH — A one-year development moratorium has been put in place for the area around Atlanta Motor Speedway and Atlanta Speedway Airport in an effort to slow development.

The Henry County Board of Commissioners voted Tuesday, Sept. 17 to enact the moratorium. Commissioner Kevin Lewis presented the proposal and said it would apply to rezonings, comprehensive land use map amendments and land modifications greater than 5 acres and would apply to both commercial and residential. The moratorium will be in place no longer than one year.
