Sweet Home Alabama filming location: Berry College — In the movie, Melanie is supposed to get married at the Carmichael Plantation. The building used for the Carmichael Plantation is Oak Hill, located on the campus of Berry College. Oak Hill was the home of school founder Martha Berry.
The Greek Revival manor housed Union soldiers during the Civil War. The Martha Berry Museum opened in 1972 and features paintings of notable Americans as well as artifacts from the Berry family.

The Little River Marina at Lake Allatoona in Canton was also used for both interior and exterior shots in the first few episodes when Marty and his family are getting acquainted with their new home.
