Henry Approves Non-Emergency Telehealth Contract
McDONOUGH — The Henry County Board of Commissioners has approved a contract that will support the county’s emergency medical responders.
Commissioners approved a contract for services with RightSite Physicians PLLC for telehealth services to non-emergency patients.
The service augments Henry County’s E-911 and Emergency Medical Service provisions.
When a patient speaks with RightSite Georgia-certified physicians, the providers confirm whether a patient’s status is non-emergent and offers them navigation services to ambulatory or telehealth care, pending consent.
Some other agenda items included:
— A resolution approving the purchase of two Saber Custom BTO Pumpers, two Saber Stock Program Pumpers, one Pierce Custom Heavy Rescue, two Bruan Liberty Ambulances and four Braun Liberty Ambulance Remounts for Henry County Fire-Rescue.
The purchases were made at a total cost of $7,483,528 and provided by Ten-8 Fire & Safety LLC. Capital funds were used.
— A resolution accepting a $3,000 grant from the State of Georgia’s Emergency Management and Homeland Security Agency for the Henry County Police Department’s Explosive Ordnance Disposal K-9 Program.
The program focuses on deterring and detecting explosives, responding to and mitigating instances of terrorism and recovering evidence related to terroristic crimes.
The grant money will be used to pay for veterinary care and food for the animals.
— A resolution to buy a Yancey Caterpillar Model 299D3 XE in the amount of $131,727. This was done using Stormwater Enterprise Funds.
It is replacing an existing piece of equipment that recently caught fire. The vehicle is used for digging, loading and material handling, per the provider’s website.
— A resolution rescinding a contract previously awarded to Sonamore Inc. to buy and install 45 C-V2X onboard units to support the connected vehicle technology for emergency vehicles.
The county was notified by the U.S. Department of Transportation that any equipment bought using specified federal grant money, which was applicable here, must comply with the Buy American Act.
Sonamore’s equipment is not manufactured in the United States, and as such the county will opt to look for a different vendor.
— A resolution authorizing the negotiation and execution of agreements with local nonprofit A Friend’s House Inc. to construct a tiny home community.
This will be on county-owned property at 135 Henry Pkwy., McDonough.
The nonprofit is under contract with Henry County to temporarily house abused, neglected and deprived children. The tiny home (low square footage) community will support this mission.
— A resolution approving a change order related to the construction of the North Mt. Carmel Park entrance improvements.
The order for $634,003 with work performed by Cooper & Company. Funds are to be covered using District 5 impact fees.
The change is necessitated by the need to build a park entrance that accommodates increased traffic caused by the new recreation center on site.
