Stockbridge’s football season is abruptly over and its Region 2-AAAA championship is gone after the use of ineligible player, the Atlanta Journal-Constitution reported Tuesday.

The Tigers were headed to the Class AAAA state playoffs as a No. 1 seed before self-reporting the mistake and losing an appeal with the Georgia High School Association, according to the report. The decision forced last year’s state runner-up to forfeit nine victories in which the ineligible player saw action. Per the report, the player failed to make what the GHSA deems a “bonafide move” into the district.
