FOREST PARK — Some days he’s Batman, the “Caped Crusader” battling crime with his PlayStation controller. Other days he’s a superhero in a white coat, fighting plaque and tooth decay as a dentist in Forest Park. No matter the cape or coat, Dr. Leonard Johnson is hailed as a superhero to the almost 100 patients he helped in a poor village in Peru.

Johnson and two other dentists recently returned from a week-long humanitarian trip where they treated patients who had never seen a dentist. The doctors did examinations, dental extractions, restorative procedures and teeth cleaning, as well as distributed toothpaste, toothbrushes, floss and other materials to the villagers from Oct. 15-22 on behalf of Kool Smiles Giving Back.
