STOCKBRIDGE — In a fiscal analysis of the proposed de-annexation of one-third of the city of Stockbridge’s population for the proposed city of Eagle’s Landing, a Carl Vinson Institute of Government report shows that Stockbridge would lose nearly half of its revenue.

The report estimates about 9,200 resident being removed from Stockbridge to create the new city, along with 48 percent of the assessed value of the city’s residential properties and 54 percent of the assessed value of the city’s commercial properties. The de-annexations would result in an estimated loss of between $4.2 and $6.1 million for Stockbridge. On the lower end, $1.8 million would be lost in Local Option Sales Taxes, approximately $578,000 would be lost in franchise fees and more than $530,000 in insurance premiums.
